Foundation Stage were so excited to spend a magical, snowy day at Manor Farm yesterday; they came as prepared as boy scouts ready for the snow, ice and cold that awaited them! We spent the day exploring the farm and all it had to offer; we saw llamas, owls, ducks, sheep, pigs, ponies and even turkeys!
The children looked closely at different animals and used language to describe and compare them. They even got a chance to stroke lots of different types of animals from snakes to sheep to hedgehogs!
After lunch, we settled down in the barn and listened to and took part in a real life nativity story with the animals; the children were excellent at contributing to the story and remembering different parts.
To get us in the festive spirit (if we weren’t already!), we enjoyed singing different Christmas songs together using bells to accompany us, practising for our performance at our Carols Around The Tree concert this Friday.
Finally, we explored the play barn where we found a castle, pirate ship and lots of climbing equipment and bikes! The children played imaginatively with their friends, creating wonderful stories using the pieces of equipment in the barn.
A huge thanks to all of the parents who volunteered to help with our visit, we couldn’t have done it without you!
