A time to…..Imagine, Invent and Inspire

Welcome Back!

I have enjoyed catching up with all of the children and parents to find out what you have been up to over the summer.  Welcome back everyone!  I would also like to give a warm welcome to the new families, children and staff who are starting Blessed Robert Widmerpool this year.  I look forward to working with you to support our children.

It has been an eventful and exciting return to school this term.  We have so far…..enjoyed a fantastic celebration for Roald Dahl’s 100th Birthday Celebration, launched Mathletics and witnessed our incredible football team win the Ratcliffe College Tournament Bowl.  I am the proudest head teacher around at the moment!

After our successful ‘Year to Create’ last year, this year is a time to Imagine, Invent and Inspire at BRW.   The children will be working on their art and design skills and have the opportunity to develop their imaginations and inventive skills through bringing home a ‘Creation Station’.  This is a special toolbox which will contain an abundance of resources to inspire the children to create, make, build and invent.   So let your imaginations run wild, be curious and adventurous.  There is a sketch book included where children can showcase their awe inspiring work.  This year, all classes will visit an art gallery for inspiration and the whole school will be focused on achieving the ‘Arts Mark Gold’ award.

We will continue to focus on improving standards in RE, reading, writing and maths throughout the year.  This will include the launch of Mathletics, an online tool to improve the children’s maths fluency.  We also continue to develop our new assessment system throughout the school which will help the staff, children and yourselves to see where the children are in their learning and what their next steps in learning are.

I look forward to an exciting year to Imagine, Invent and Inspire.  Thank you for your continued support.

Mrs Maylard-Mason
