Diving Right In

Year 3 had great fun in their Science lesson today! We’ve been learning about the Polar Explorer ship named after Sir David Attenborough and the submarine ‘Boaty’ We wanted to understand how submarines descend and rise by making a Cartesian diver. The children were given a variety of objects to experiment with, and although not always successful we were delighted with our results.

The Big Questions were…

What happens when you squeeze the bottle?
What happens when you relax your grip?
How does this link to submarines and Boaty?
