Final Countdown!

I cannot believe that we are about to start the last half term for this academic year.  Once again time has flown by and the children have demonstrated so many different ways to imagine, invent and inspire this term.

Year 6 deserve a special mention for their unwavering determination and confidence building towards and during their assessments.  Every single pupil rose to the challenge, showing excellent attitudes to their learning.  I am extremely proud of them all.  These tests are not the only measure of our Year 6 pupils, they have so many different gifts and talents which are celebrated in school.  Enjoy your last term Year 6 and I look forward to seeing you grow and shine even further in your last few weeks with us at BRW.

The BRW Eco Warriors have been working hard to ensure the whole school understand their Eco responsibilities. They have presented some informative assemblies to remind us of ways to reduce waste and follow the Eco Code. They have also hosted an Eco Extravaganza to share all the work they have been doing in school with our parents and some visitors from Whitegate school.  It was a fantastic event which was well attended and also raised funds towards the ‘Building Hope Appeal.’  I now look forward to seeing how well our children do in the sunflower growing competition.  The sky is the limit!

Our amazing BRW Road Safety team returned from the Road Safety Quiz final having secured 4th place out of 129 schools which took part this year.  This is a great achievement.  I was extremely proud of them and the way they represented the school.  Myself and Mrs McGurk and your parents were possibly the loudest fans in the audience.  We were bursting with pride.  Thank you to all of the parents who came along to support on the evening.  The trophy is now on display in the school hall.

We ended the term with a mini-heatwave and three eventful and exciting Sports Days.  Well done to all the children who took part and all of our parents and families who came along to watch.  The children showed enthusiasm, passion and team spirit throughout.  My lasting memory will be of the KS2 parent’s race this year.  It was amazing to see so many take part.  We are so lucky to have such wonderful and competitive parents here at BRW.  I am sure we broke some records on the sprint finish!

I hope that you have all had a lovely break this half term and look forward to seeing you back at school tomorrow bright and early and ready to enjoy our final half term of this academic year.
