Our Visit From Professor Brookfield

Last week, Years 5 and 6 were very lucky to have a special visitor from the University of Nottingham! We learnt about Evolution and Adaptation and even got to see a whiptail scorpion in person.

Look carefully to see how the Whiptail Scorpion has adapted to its environment. How has it adapted to make it more likely for the creature to survive?

We even looked at various living and extinct creatures and how they have adapted to the different environments. We also looked at how some creatures have evolved over millions of years. We learnt many facts and hope that we can put our knowledge to use.

  1. This lesson was really fun and that creature was interesting, it jumped at me which is ok as long as it didn’t try and hurt me lol but it was interesting and I learned a lot.

  2. I never knew that the T-Rex had feathers, I thought it would look like the one in Jurassic Park. I thought the lesson was really fun and I learned so much about evolution.

  3. I thought that the bug was amazing! I loved its ginormous feelers and the way it was so flat. This is because it needs to be able to fit under things!

  4. When miss lee taught us about adaptation and evolution, I was so interested and intrigued but when Professor Brookfield taught I learned so much. I found the scorpion very interesting because it was as flat as coin. That is how it has adapted to its surroundings.
