Spring Term Fun!

We have had a great first week back after the half term break and the glorious weather has made it even better!  Spring was definitely in the air as we gathered on Friday afternoon for the annual BRW Spring Raffle.  With two £50 cash prizes and an array of luxury hampers up for grabs, it was an exciting event to say the least.  Thank you to all of our wonderful parents and families for selling so many tickets and for their generous donations for the hampers this year.  All money raised will go towards school funds.

The beautiful weather definitely helped when raising our Green Flag last week.  We received this award for our dedicated work towards the International Eco Schools Award.  The flag is now flying high on our brand new flagpole outside the school office.  Well done to the Eco Team for their continued hard work and dedication!

Bishop Patrick has written to all the schools and parishes in our diocese to outline the spiritual foundation for the diocese that he would like to see put firmly in place over the next three years: ENCOUNTER, DISCIPLESHIP and MSSIONARY DISCIPLESHIP.

  • ENCOUNTER: Ensuring that people of all ages are helped to discover the importance of a personal ENCOUNTER with Christ; so that they can become convinced that they are each loved by God and are invited to grow in their relationship with him.
  • DISCIPLESHIP: Bishop Patrick would like to encourage each of us to hear and respond to his invitation to be his DISCIPLES, to follow him more closely, and to seek to serve him generously in our daily lives.
  • MISSIONARY DISCIPLESHIP: With the help, guidance and inspiration of the Holy Spirit, we can all become MISSIONARY DISCIPLES who bear witness to His love in our service of our brothers and sisters, especially those most in need.

As a school, we will be trying to deepen our understanding of, and our response to, these core spiritual themes over the next three years.

As I post this message, the school blog has received over 400,000 hits and collected 186 flags from around the globe!  Amazing!  The BRW blog is alive and thriving.  It is full of posts from children and staff about the many different and exciting things taking place in school.  You can also listen to announcements and top tips of the day presented by our Digital Leaders on the school radio at:  www.brwacademy.com

We are all extremely excited and look forward to the half term ahead.  Thank you for your support.

Mrs Maylard-Mason
