The Greatest Show on Earth: NYC

How can a city inspire you? Some say that New York is one of the greatest city’s on earth. Year 6 have been putting that statement to the test.

Using the below video, we have created figurative setting descriptions of the Big Apple, using similes, our five senses and high-level punctuation to paint a picture for the reader.

  1. I enjoyed writing about New York City. Here is what I have written:
    The vivid, blue sky blankets the city, illuminating the skyscrapers and building blocks below. Yellow cabs’ exhausts drill through Times Square.The picturesque scene of Broadway is filled with crowds of people crossing over the streets, commuters going to work; taxi drivers picking up the citizens of New York City.The wispy white clouds dot the sky. Though busy and bewildering, the city is warm and welcoming; this city is home.It is a colorful, cosmopolitan city. Streets’ stalls fill the air with an exciting mix of smells and sounds from around the world.New York city is bustling with tourists, who are eager to explore the many shops and museums. At dawn, the sky changes to orange and then red, and the sun rises in a glorious explosion of pink and gold.At night, the stars glimmer like a diamond necklace in the velvet sky. In the centre of Grand Central Station is a gleaming, golden clock; in Central Park there is a lake where the water is glistening amd clear.

I love he new topic on New York so i have tried my best to put together some wonderful sentences on the place: As the sun rises, millions of sparkles like diamonds burst over the water, the water that has Brooklyn Bridge intently lingering over it. As you travel further through the city, you start to paint images in your head that are beyond anyone’s imagination. Thoughts appear in your mind that you believe could not exist. Yellow cab exhausts drill through the mild yet blaring air. When the day begins to fade, the stars begin to glitter like a diamond necklace in the black, velvet sky. Enchanting, encapsulating, awe-inspiring who would ever dare to leave?
