We All Make Sacrifices

In Year 5, we all have been learning about Sacrifices. Everyone makes sacrifices; we sacrifice many things.

We sacrifice our time to our friends and family.

We sacrifice our money as we give it to the poor or spend it as a gift.

We sacrifice many things, but the sacrifices we make aren’t as big as Jesus’. Jesus made a sacrifice that we wouldn’t make… He gave up His life for us. Although the Lord was presented to us in human form, He was the Son of God and forever will be. Think about this scripture, ‘ Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.’ – John 15:13

What do you think this means?                                                                                Why do you think this?                                                                                       Who does it make you think of?

  1. This is a beautiful blog Yocheved.

The scripture you have chosen is very powerful. It makes me feel very thankful for anyone who has ever made a sacrifice for me, but especially Jesus, who made the biggest sacrifice of all.

  2. What a reflective, stunning blog post Yocheved. Your questions have certainly made me stop and think, especially after our wonderful Holy Week at school. I’d love to hear the thoughts of others…

  3. I to agree the questions make me think. They make me wonder why . I also agree that we should make time to spend wih our friends.

  4. It makes me think of love. So, how love is the greatest thing in the universe, how strong it can be, how its magic works, how loves acts as a shield. An example of the last one is:
“Albus Dumbledore: “Harry, do you know why Professor Quirrell couldn’t bear to have you touch him? It was because of your mother. She sacrificed herself for you. And that kind of act leaves a mark… This kind of mark cannot be seen. It lives in your very skin.”
    Harry: “What is it?”
    Albus Dumbledore: “Love, Harry. Love.”
This respectfully shows that love is the bond and can strengthen power.
