A Summery Day At Summerwood

Year 3 had the best day at Summerwood Community Gardens today. The weather was fabulous and the staff were too! We learned so much about the Romans and food. We met the chickens and fed them…repeatedly. We weeded, we planted vegetable and flower seeds, we harvested lettuce and beans. We met a lovely Roman soldier historian who showed us many artefacts that wowed and amazed us. Finally, we made fresh pizza and chopped and prepared a Roman banquet of dates, salad and fruit to accompany it. We had so many moments of wonder and awe…my favourite was seeing the Robin baby chicks newly hatched in the shed (see if you can spot them in the photos) What was your favourite moment of the day?
