This term Year 5 are looking at the life cycles of plants and mammals. Before we could understand the life cycle of a flower, we had to learn about the different parts of a flower and their functions.
After looking at botanical illustrations of plants, we became botanical investigators ourselves. We dissected a tulip and labelled the different parts and then explained the function of a plant. To gain further insight, we looked around the Jubilee garden to compare the structure of a variety of plants.
What is the female part of the flower called? What happens in the female part?
What are the male parts of the flower?
