Some of the Year 1 children were welcomed back to school on Monday and they have had a fabulous week. They have quickly settled into their new classrooms and have mastered all of the new rules and routines. They really have made us proud.
The children have been split into two pods and each group was challenged with naming them. My pod have changed their name from Year 1 Group A to The Rockets! Miss Andrew has been working with Year 1 Group B and they are now called The Lions! We definitely think that the children have improved their original pod names.
This week the Rocket group have enjoyed learning the story of Jack and the Beanstalk, designed their own castles, planted flowers in our new garden, enjoyed yoga sessions, had picnics in the garden, painted castle scenes, collaged rockets, counted in 2s, 5s and 10s, read stories, learned some phonics and even found time to enjoy a dancing break between activities.
It really has been a busy week. The children have told me that the best thing about their new class is that they have their own desk, iPad, books and pencil case full of stationary.
I can’t wait to see what the rest of this half term has in store for us but I can guarantee that it will be full of smiles, laughter, dancing, learning new things and making lots of memories.
