Peaceful Peeling at Forest School

We had a wonderfully quiet session peeling sticks with vegetable peelers, sitting in the dappled sunshine, listening to birdsong. The children focused really well, kept themselves safe by following the rules from our Tool Talk and used good pressure to remove the bark from the sticks. The sticks then became magic wands, pencils, digging tools and much more.

They also had lots of time to explore the wood, climb trees, pick flowers, find minibeasts and make up games with their friends.

  1. Breya really enjoyed it! She came home with a newly peeled stick, and she said,
”We used potato peelers, we ran around the forest and drank orange juice, mango juice and chocolate cookies!”
