Year 5 have been learning about life during WWII, including rationing. We were tasked with creating a dish to take to an evacuee’s party using only rationing allowances. We decided to create a Woolton Pie, which was created by Francis Ladry, the chef at the Savoy Hotel in London in 1941. It was named after Lord Woolton, the head of Ministry of Food, who advised people to make new recipes with rationing allowances.
We rose up, took courage and did it! We used our knowledge of food preperation and cooking processes to create our very own Woolton Pie – take a look!
