Science Investigation: Materials

Hello Year 2!

Here is a video to help you with your Science investigation this week. I can safely say I much prefer teaching with all of you in the room with me! It felt very odd just talking to my computer but I hope the video helps even in a small way.

As the video explains, your task this week is to test different materials to check whether they are waterproof or not.

Before beginning your investigation, look at the materials you will be testing and decide on your prediction.

What do you think will happen? Why?

Here is a word bank to help you with Science work:

Then begin your investigating. You could draw yourself a table like this so you can look back at your results easily. Remember to check with your adults at home before using any resources.

After you have completed your practical investigation, think about what your results show.

Were you surprised by any results?

Did you find a material that could be used as a coat? Why/ why not?

Tell me something you have learned.

Good luck with your investigating – I hope you have lots of fun!

  1. Hi Miss Cotter

I enjoyed doing this experiment so much! I would make Grace Darling a coat out of plastic!

I miss school and my friends so much

    Love Harry G

    • Hi Harry!

Plastic is waterproof so it would certainly keep Grace Darling dry!
We miss you too. We hope you’re having lots of fun at home – keep smiling. Let me know if you need any help with anything.

      Love Miss Cotter x
